Armory

In GokNur System, understandig the workings and construction of Ancient Armory is important in understanding why and hows of most ancient martial arts techniques.  Ability to make tools separates mankind from rest of the species.  As such, ancient methods of conducting warfare by means of using tools, has given birth to unarmed methods of warfare.   Regardless of amount of conditioning, skill, sipirit or effort, the human tissue is no match for stone, metal or a hard piece of oak.  Therefore a good strategic choice has always been not to get cut, stabbed or hit with tools made with such materials.  There are three possible ways of doing this:
  1. Be out of the way.
  2. Deflect it with something.
  3. Stop it with something made of greather density.

Goal of armory is provide maximum protection while giving minimum restiction on movement.   Because of this fact, each type of armory must have inherent weaknesses.  Typically moving parts of the armory will either be open or it will be built with flexible materials.  In some cases these areas may lend themselves as targets.  Also, due to amount of force generated, some types of attacks may be a better gamble against a warrior wearing an armor in comparison to other types of attacks.   Downward Cut and Forward thrust are such type of attacks.

Ancient Armor may typically protect these arteries against edged weapons:

  1. External Carotid  and Subclavian Arteries on the neck
  2. Brachial Artery on the arm
  3. Femoral Artery on leg

Although depending largely on what type of armor, these are likely targets on a warrior wearing a armor that allows reasonable amount of movement:

  1. Crown of head with downward cut, risky but viable option due to possibility of success
  2. Neck
  3. Wrist
  4. Elbows
  5. Knees
  6. Certer Mass with forward thrust, risky but viable option due to possibility of success
