Rhythm
Proper rhythm and timing are an integral part of any Martial Art. Timing and rhythm are established through practice. During GokNur practice session the commands are counted out by instructor. However since it is impossible to count fluid movement combinations or blending movements, practice session is conducted to the fluid rhythm and sound of the musical instruments. There are two main musical instruments or pre-recorded sounds used during training sessions of GokNur System; "Buyuk Davul" (Large Drum) and "Kucuk Davul" (Small Drum). The alternate name for large drum is "Kaba Davul", and alternate name for small drum is "Cura Davul" or "Davul Baz." Rhythm used depends on type of technique, combination of techniques or level of desired difficulty in practice. Pre existing war march ryhthms of Turkic origin are commonly used.
Use of Sound in GokNur practice
Movement conducted to sound may be considered a form of dance. Use of dance in martial arts training may not make sense for modern practitioners. However, dance has been integral part of preserving martial arts movements in several cultures across the world. Dance has also been a hidden way to practice martial arts for many cultures. As such, in GokNur dance establishes the same purpose, using movement and rythm.
