Tokat is translated as "Slap with an open hand." In GokNur Martial Arts Styem, Tokat is the general name used for various palm strikes and other open hand techniques. There are two main categories of tokat:
- Tokat - Which implies inside of hand.
- Elin Tersi - Which translates as back of of hand.
During Tokat techniques various parts of the wrist and fingers may be used in whip like action.
Significant amount of time is spent on conditioning during Tokat training.
There are four main parry techniques in Tokat:
- Elin Tersi Disa - Parry with outside of the hand
- Tokat Ice - Parry to the centerline with open palm.
- Elin Tersi Disa ve Obur Elle Tokat - Parry with the Tersi of back hand, follow with Tokat of the other hand.
- Tokat ice ve obur elin Tersi - Parry with the Tokat of back hand, follow with the Tersi of the other hand.
